The national family movement has long advocated for the meaningful engagement of families and youth. However, little research has been done about the experience of families in leadership positions or of their impact on systems of care. This article offers a glimpse into the authority, influence and credibility earned by family leaders, one of whom is PPAL’s executive director, as well as their impact on their own communities.
